International Construction Management in Chad
Chad presented Jerry Tarley with the opportunity to support construction in remote areas and infrastructure efforts in one of the most logistically challenging operating environments in Africa. Working in an austere setting with limited local resources, Jerry was responsible for coordinating construction activities, managing field operations, overseeing subcontractors and local labor, and ensuring that projects progressed safely and efficiently despite significant logistical constraints.
The success of the project relied on careful planning, logistics coordination, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions. Materials, equipment, workforce availability, and transportation challenges required constant coordination and creative problem-solving to maintain schedules and meet project management objectives. Jerry worked closely with project stakeholders to ensure that construction quality, operational requirements, and client expectations were met while navigating the realities of working in a remote developing environment.
His work in Chad further strengthened his expertise in international construction management, logistics coordination, workforce supervision, project controls, and execution in austere environments. The experience reinforced many of the skills that would later prove essential on projects throughout Africa and other developing regions, including adaptability, resourcefulness, cultural awareness, and the ability to deliver results under challenging field conditions.
