Natural Resource Center Construction - Design-Build

This project was executed under Midcon Builds’ Won and Run model for the United States Air Force. Midcon Builds identified the opportunity, developed the winning proposal, supported project estimating, and took on key leadership roles including Project Manager, Design Project Manager, Environmental Manager, Quality Control Manager, Safety Coordinator, and Specifier for the Prime Contractor.

The project (XLWU 20-4018) constructed a new Natural Resource Center at Tyndall Air Force Base to replace a facility destroyed by Hurricane Michael. This Design-Build effort delivered a 1,400-square-foot pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) with all required site and utility infrastructure. Scope included architectural finishes, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, septic and lift/grinder pump installation, lightning protection, and complete site improvements to produce a fully operational facility.

The building was designed and constructed to current building codes, Department of Defense standards, and Florida Building Code High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) requirements. Delivery of this resilient, hurricane-resistant facility required close coordination of design development, permitting, procurement, quality control, safety management, environmental compliance, construction execution, and project closeout.

The project was completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
