This was a classic Won and Run project. Midcon Builds supported the original MATOC proposal that positioned the Prime Contractor (NNAC) for award under the NAVFAC Southeast Gulf Coast Area of Responsibility Design-Build / Design-Bid-Build Multiple Award Construction Contract (N6945024D0020). Once the task order was issued, we stepped directly into key leadership roles for the Prime, including Project Manager, Safety Coordinator, Quality Control Manager, Environmental Manager, Scheduler, and Specifier.
The project involved the design and demolition of the covered walkway at Building S237, Naval Support Activity Mid-South, Millington, Tennessee. The existing concrete canopy structure had deteriorated significantly, with widespread cracking, spalling, and exposed rebar at the building connection points, creating both safety and operational concerns on an active installation.
Scope of work included a detailed existing-conditions assessment, engineering and installation of temporary adjustable steel shoring to safely support the slab during demolition, controlled demolition of the walkway structure, complete debris removal, repair of the building face where the canopy had been attached, placement of new concrete sidewalks, and full site restoration with sod.
All work was executed in a fully operational Navy installation environment with strict safety, quality, and environmental requirements. The project was completed successfully, on schedule, and within budget.

Site preparation for covered walkway demolition at Building S237, NSA Mid-South. Temporary traffic control and delineation installed to maintain safe pedestrian and vehicular access during work on the active installation.

Post demolition, finished edge, showing the canopy connection to the building face. Conditions assessment confirmed significant deterioration requiring controlled removal under NAVFAC safety protocols.
