Elevator Modernization Projects at Midcon Builds

This project was a Won and Run under the NAVFAC contracts for the Southeast Gulf Coast Area of Responsibility, specifically within the Design-Build / Design-Bid-Build Multiple Award Construction Contract (N6945024D0020). Our team took on critical leadership roles, including Project Manager, Safety Coordinator, Quality Control Manager, Environmental Manager, Scheduler, and Specifier for the Prime Contractor.

MidCon Builds also played a vital role in supporting the original MATOC proposal. The Prime Contractor, NNAC, was awarded this task order to modernize the elevator systems in Buildings 456 and 791 at Naval Support Activity Mid-South in Millington, Tennessee.

The project involved the complete modernization of the existing elevator systems in both buildings, carried out in an active installation environment while ensuring safe access and operational continuity for all building occupants.

This construction project was completed successfully, on schedule, and within budget.

Elevator controller cabinet (Alliance Elevator Solutions) installed in the machine room. Final installation and labeling completed under continuous safety protocols and in accordance with the approved project schedule and NAVFAC standards.

Code-required “In Fire Emergency Do Not Use Elevator – Use Exit Stairs” signage installed adjacent to the modernized elevator entrance. Signage meets NAVFAC and life-safety requirements and was completed as part of final close-out activities.

Updated car operating panel featuring Firefighters’ Operation controls, emergency communication, floor selection buttons, and the posted Department of the Navy Vertical Transportation Inspection Certificate. All components installed and verified for full ASME A17.1 and NAVFAC compliance.

Department of the Navy Vertical Transportation Inspection Certificate for Elevator Unit 1, Building 791 (Whitten Bldg), NSA Millington. Certificate confirms the elevator meets ASME A17.1 safety code requirements following successful modernization and acceptance testing (inspected 7/2026).
